Our Ethos

We aim to make our school a place where we all grow in our love for each other and our love of learning.

We believe education is much more than giving children facts. We aim to engender an excitement about learning; a passion for knowledge and understanding; and a lifelong curiosity about the world.

We teach our pupils that God wants them to show His love to those around them. This involves being respectful to others, taking responsibility for their own actions and contributing to society. We want the classroom to be a place where the wonders of God’s creation open up in the minds of our pupils, a safe context where they develop a sense of their own place in God’s amazing world.

We believe that there are such things as right and wrong. God has shown us, in the Bible, how to live well. Everything we teach will be consistent with the Word of God, as far as we understand it. Children are full of potential and we see it as our responsibility to nurture and train them to become the best they can possibly be. We encourage them to have an enquiring, open outlook, to make up their own minds and to develop the thinking skills necessary for intelligent engagement with the modern world.

Only God can give our children saving faith in Our Lord Jesus Christ. It is our responsibility to do all we can to create a context of love, in which the Word of God is front and centre. Our school logo contains an image of a church building with God’s Word, the Bible, as its foundations. As part of the church, the school benefits from an ethos that is not dreamt up by us, but our ethos is, ultimately, from God.
